IBPS and SBI bank exam photo and signature size

Quick answer

For IBPS (PO, Clerk, RRB, SO) and SBI forms, the photo is 200 × 230 pixels, JPEG, 20–50 KB and the signature is 140 × 60 pixels, JPEG, 10–20 KB. You also upload a left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration, and capture a live photo.

IBPS and SBI recruitment forms use the same scanned-document rules across PO, Clerk, RRB and SO posts. Besides the photo and signature, you upload a left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration, and capture a live photo.

The photo is small — 200 × 230 pixels is the preferred size — but must be at least 20 KB. Very small images often come out under the minimum; the converter raises quality first and, if needed, pads the file so it reaches 20 KB without changing the picture.

Sign in black ink on white paper. Signatures in capital letters are not accepted. The same signature is checked against the one you give at the exam and joining.

Thumb impression, declaration and live photo

  • Left thumb impression — on white paper with blue or black ink. Published sizes differ; check the on-screen limit and make a custom preset if needed.
  • Handwritten declaration — copy the given text in English, in your own handwriting (not in capitals). Commonly 800 × 400 pixels, 50–100 KB.
  • Live photo — captured through your webcam or phone during registration. It can't be uploaded as a file.

Photo rules

  • Recent and in colour. Most portals want a photo taken in the last 6 months (UPSC and NEET are stricter — see their guides).
  • Plain, light background. White or off-white with no pattern, shadow or other people.
  • Face the camera. Neutral expression, eyes open, mouth closed, head straight — not tilted.
  • Face fills most of the frame. Roughly 70–80% of the photo height from chin to top of head.
  • No caps or dark glasses. Religious head coverings are fine if the full face is visible.
  • Even light. Face a window; avoid overhead bulbs that cast shadows under the eyes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the IBPS photo size?

200 × 230 pixels (preferred), JPEG, 20–50 KB.

What is the IBPS signature size?

140 × 60 pixels (preferred), JPEG, 10–20 KB.

Is the SBI photo size the same?

Yes — SBI PO and Clerk notices use the same photo and signature specs as IBPS.

My file is only 8 KB. How do I increase it to 20 KB?

Use the preset: it automatically raises quality and, if still under 20 KB, adds padding data so the portal accepts the file.

Always check the portal

Limits on government portals change between application cycles. If the form shows a different size, use those numbers — the converter's Create custom preset lets you enter any size.
